His father is William, he arrived in Australia in 1853 with Mary Ann, on 24th April 1853 to be spot on probobly around about 8.53 am on a crisp morn, anyhow don't have a winfield! The ship was called the Java leaving the cold hole "oi" on 22nd November 1852. P.S. My name is Gavin Spicer NSW. Emily is my great grandfather James' sister. From Ancestry.com website

William Percy I

There is little information available other than he married Harriet Wills(?). This information comes from his son's death certificate from 1913. There is a record of a land grant in the Colonial Secretaries Letters Relating to Land in 1851 to a William Edward Percy here: http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/state-archives/indexes-online/results?state=&fields=%25percy%3B&names=Surname%2C&Index=CSreLand&id=14&Surname=%25percy&SUBMIT=Submit+Query Maybe he came out to Australia first and his son came out the following year? The Everrets at Ollera were apparently known for their 'commmunity-building' and bringing out 'trustworthy' people from England, but this all might be a bit far-fetched as a hypothesis at this stage! There is a Simpson R. Percy applying for a lease in 1849 in the Gwydir district for the area known as 'Parish of Trigamon'. This is near Bingara, so suits the particular area of Ollera. Thomas Percy - Boer War

There is a Thomas Percy who served in the 3rd Battalion, Australian Mounted Horse, in the Boer War. Clutching at straws to say he is a family member (however, he was from NSW): http://www.awm.gov.au/research/people/nominal_rolls/pre_first_world_war/person.asp?p=460881 Apparently, the 3rd Battalion didn't see active service: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Commonwealth_Horse Thomas Alfred Percy was James Beasley Percy's son, but he was born too late to serve in the Boer War. It was probably the Thomas E Percy from Braidwood (don't know who this is).
